Job Overview:

The Children’s Pastor is directly responsible in leading the Children’s Ministry at Duncan First Baptist Church. Responsibilities include—Sundays, midweek programs, and special events. This can be a demanding position as this pastor must balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Therefore, we are seeking the person God has called to serve Him first and foremost.  This will help establish strong and appropriate relationships with the children, their families, and volunteers, while maintaining a professional and positive image and attitude that would please the Lord Jesus.

• Profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and spend regular time talking with Him and reading His Word.

• Personally pursue a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ and to set a Christlike example in words and actions for the children and adults.

• Be a light in the world by being committed to the Great Commission and the Great Commandments.  Do this inside and outside the walls of Duncan First as a member of God’s family and the Duncan First family.  

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Oversee the Children’s Ministry at Duncan First Baptist Church. This includes working alongside all other staff members; specifically, the youth pastor as you both are working with the next generation of maturing believers.   

• Develop Sunday morning and Wednesday night programs to reach each child on their level for spiritual growth. (Sunday—Nursery to 6th Grade for Sunday School, Kids Worship and Grounded during adult worship time, Wednesday night—AWANA and Choir Rehearsal Care) 

• Evangelism—Share the love of Jesus with the children of our church and community. (Through events: Trunk or Treat, Parent’s Night Out, Partnering with the city of Duncan and local schools)

• Oversee the Children’s Ministry Team, volunteers, and possible interns. To enlist, train, provide resources, and encourage adult leadership to lead, serve, and partner with parents. 

• Develop and oversee the Children’s Ministry budget so it effectively and wisely utilizes church resources and maximizes ministry opportunity.

• Maintain the Children’s page on the DFB website and the Children’s bulletin board on a consistent basis to keep these spaces from growing stagnant.

• Help organize, plan, and recruit help for Vacation Bible School, Kid’s Summer Camp, Summer Day Trips, Back to School Bash, and various other events throughout the year. 

 

Communication:

• Participate in staff meetings, maintain excellent relationships and open communication with all staff, providing up-to-date information about the Children’s Ministry.

• In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and/or Church Administrator, set and cast the vision for Duncan First Baptist’s Children’s Ministries and follow through with strategy and goals to achieve this vision.  

• Abide by the church Personnel Policies and Procedures outlined in the DFB handbook.

• Effective in planning & time management.

 

Pastoral Requirements:

• Must be a Baptized (immersed) Believer.

• Meet the pastoral qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

• Duncan First is seeking a pastor with experience in leading or assistant in leading, and an Undergraduate degree is preferred.

 

Salary Range: $30,000 - $50,000.
